Even for a moment.

Whether I was your welcome surprise,

Or a bridge you crossed to sever old ties,

I wished for a world more gentle to us,

Where hurt and distance couldn’t breach our trust.

In another life, perhaps miles would bind—

And not twist love’s shape in your mind.

We met on fractured ground, trembling and thin—

A fleeting chapter that fate wouldn’t let begin.

What if you had chosen to stay?

What if we’d fought to keep night from day?

I don’t hold anger; I understand,

But I wish our story hadn’t slipped through our hands.

Even for a moment,

I’d walk this path once more—

To be your breath, your calm in a storm,

A glimpse of peace at love’s raw core.

For even that moment,

I felt the sun break free—

In your gaze, a love so vivid,

Reflecting back the best of me.

Yes, I fell quickly, perhaps too fast,

But I cherished each spark as if it would last.

I’d choose that fleeting truth and fire,

Over a lifetime of doubt, unlit desire.

I still remember our hands parting slow—

The pain of letting what’s precious go.

You were more than a fleeting flame—

In your warmth, I shed my name.

Now, as time has slipped through my grasp,

I sit and smile at memories past.

I close my eyes and see it clear—

That brief, bright moment we held dear.

Thank you—for even in brevity, you healed,

Showed me a love so tender and real.

I hope your days are filled with light,

With joy that lingers past the night.

Some love comes simple; some arrives fast—

Some are stories we hold to the last.

I’m grateful for us, for what we became—

A memory of love, a flickering flame.
